Matteo Ramon Arevalos began playing drums at the age of six, but soon switched to piano, then took up composition. During his studies, in Ravenna, was fundamental the opportunity to learn with the pianist Fiorenza Ferroni. In 1993 he took part in the composition of the musical fairy tale Notte by the brother Jean-Michel Arevalos.
In 1994 he won first prize at the National Piano Competition Agorà in Rome, in 1995 obtaining his diploma in piano at the Conservatory Bruno Maderna in Cesena, with Flavio Meniconi, with full marks and honours. After which he took piano instruction from Rudolf Kehrer in Vienna and Oxana Yablonskaya in New York. Between 2000 and 2006 he studied composition - in Rome with Francesco Telli, in Lugano with Paul Glass and in Paris with Narcis Bonet. He published two compositions for piano of his own for the music publishing house College Music: Vivo Marcia Fantasia (2002) and Nocturne 1996 (2006). From 2003 to 2006 he was the pianist for the show Ada, a family chronicle by the theatre company Fanny & Alexander, performing music by O. Messiaen, G. Ligeti and M. Feldman, and recording the DVD Rebus per Ada (Luca Sossella Editore, 2006).
Since 2003 he has worked in a duo with ondist Bruno Perrault, specializing in contemporary classical music. In 2008 he performed Feldman’s Rothko Chapel with the Ensemble Giacinto Scelsi, directed by Roberto Gabbiani and, with ondist Nadia Ratsimandresy produced Messiaen et autour de Messiaen for the centenary of Messiaen's birth, released a concert tournée and on a CD by ReR Megacorp UK. In 2009, with the group I. Feraud he composed music for the performance Variazioni sull'Angolo Diedro. From 2009 to 2011 he collaborated with the electronic composer Paolo F. Bragaglia in the group Synusonde, publishing a CD Yug for Minus Habens Records (2011). He worked with film director Elisabetta Sgarbi composing and performing original soundtracks for movies Raffaello - La Stanza della Segnatura (2009) and Sono rimasto senza parole (2011). In 2011 he participated in the 54th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale with the artist Vanni Cuoghi and in the 4th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, with the mosaic exhibition Reliquary, playing his composition Mantra Gita 3 for soprano, prepared piano with mosaic tiles and percussionists of mosaic cutters. In 2013 released on CD by ReR Megacorp his second project for ondes martenot and piano entitled Sérimpie with the ondist Bruno Perrault and a subsequent concert tour with stage-designed by the artist Roberto Pagnani.
He collaborated with prestigious theatre company: Masque Teatro in the shows The Decision (2016) and Marmo (2017); Nerval Teatro in the shows Sinfonia Beckettiana (2018); for theater company Drammatico Vegetale he composed the music for the show Leo, uno sguardo bambino sul mondo (2018) and InfernoParadiso (2020). He is currently collaborating with Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio Claudia Castellucci for the work Fisica dell'aspra comunione, playing Catalogue d’Oiseaux of O. Messiaen. In 2017 he composed the soundtrack for the movie Late Penang Afternoon by film director Hanspeter Ammann. In 2017 he was commissioned by the Centro Dantesco of Ravenna and by the Ensemble Mosaici Sonori a Oratorio, Dante, un viaggio nella Comedia, for choir, orchestra and two narrators, on the occasion of Dante's celebrations. He is currently engaged in a series of concerts in duo with singer - actress Camilla Lopez entitled Tribute to Violeta Parra (2018) with music by the Chilean singer-songwriter Violeta Parra, in a project of rewriting and musical composition of the papyri and tombstones of ancient Greece entitled Teleion - Fragments of Ancient Greek Music that debuted in 2020 at the Ravenna Festival and Memento Caravaggio - La Natività original composition commissioned by Archeoclub Sicilia ODV which made its debut in the Oratory of San Lorenzo in Palermo (2021). In 2021 he collaborated with director Nicolás Isasi on his film Out of mind.
He is mainly active in a contemporary music project for piano solo entitled Per Piano with works by Fausto Razzi (July 2017 was published the CD for ReR Megacorp of his concert made at Area Sismica) and in some projects with his compositions for piano solo and for video prepared piano entitled La Folia and Metamorphosis. In December 2022 the CD Mystic View was released with his compositions that took part in some soundtracks, in May 2023 his latest CD La Folia was released by the estonian Tunitemusic Record Label.
